HD Ready

The HD Ready logo

The term HD Ready was introduced by EICTA (European Information, Communications and Consumer Electronics Technology Industry Associations) in 2005 to be used as a label of quality for high definition televisions. For a television to be labelled HD Ready it must be capable of accepting and displaying a high definition signal at both 720p and 1080i.

Full HD

For a television to be full HD it must have the native resolution of 1080p. When display at 1080i, HD Ready televisions have the same picture quality as Full HD televisions they are just display differently.
